Karl Falk Memorial Scholarship Program FAQ If I applied last year, can I also apply this year? How much is the scholarship worth? How many scholarship awards will be given out? I did not graduate from high school, am I eligible? I received my GED but not a diploma, am I eligible? Is there a specific school I must attend to apply for the scholarship? Do I need a letter of reference or letter of recommendation? Can I receive an extension if I can not get all the information in on-time? Do I need an Official Transcript or can I just have a copy of my transcript? Who is eligible to apply? Can my sister apply who is not on Section 8? Can I give this information to my church member’s son? If I have applied for the Karl Falk Memorial Scholarship, may I also apply for other scholarships as well? After I submit my application, how long will it take before a decision is made? Can I walk-in my application or can I only mail it to the office? Can I call to get the status of my scholarship application? How long will it take to process my application? Do I have to be enrolled in a school currently to apply for the scholarship? BACK TO FAQ IF I APPLIED LAST YEAR, CAN I ALSO APPLY THIS YEAR? Yes. Back To Top HOW MUCH IS THE SCHOLARSHIP WORTH? Selected recipients will be awarded $1,000. However, they will receive the scholarship in two payments. Recipients will receive $500 for the fall semester and the additional $500 will be given to the recipient upon verification of enrollment for the spring semester. Back To Top HOW MANY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN OUT? Twenty applicants will be selected for the Karl Falk Scholarship award. Back To Top I DID NOT GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL, AM I ELIGIBLE? No. You must have completed high school in order to be eligible for this scholarship. Back To Top I RECEIVED MY GED BUT NOT A DIPLOMA, AM I ELIGIBLE? Yes. As long as you have completed your high school education, you are eligible to apply. Back To Top THERE A SPECIFIC SCHOOL I MUST ATTEND TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP? Yes. Only Section 8 Housing Voucher participants and Public Housing residents are eligible to apply. Back To Top AFTER I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE A DECISION IS MADE? Yes, you may apply for as many scholarships as you are qualified and eligible for. However, it may be necessary to reduce the amount of this scholarship award. Back To Top CAN I WALK-IN MY APPLICATION OR CAN I ONLY MAIL IT TO THE OFFICE? You may walk-in your application or mail your application as long as the application and required documents arrive by the due date and time. The physical address is 1331 Fulton Mall, Fresno. You may call for information regarding the general scholarship process, but specific information regarding your application will not be available. You may call (559) 457-4228 and your call will be returned within 48 hours M-F. If you do not provide all the required documents, ONLY ONE notice will be mailed requesting the missing documents. Notifications will be mailed to all applicants stating whether or not they were successful in receiving the scholarship in late June or early July. No, but you must be registered as a full-time student for the Fall semester being awarded.
