If the family owes monies to the HA, the balance must be paid in full or the transfer will be denied. Families in violation of their family obligations will not be permitted to transfer out of Fresno County. Step One: - It is the family's responsibility to contact the Receiving Housing Authority (RHA) and ask them if they are accepting portable transfers and if they have any specific instructions (see contact information below).
- A valid Vacate Notice must be served by either the owner or the family ensuring that all parties are notified in writing before the family moves from the unit.
- Call the Fresno Housing Authorities only after you have served or received a vacate notice to move, but before you actually move out of the unit. If you have completed 1 & 2 we will schedule a transfer appointment for you.
Need the contact information for other housing authorities please click here.
Ready to schedule your appointment? Call the Information Service Center (559) 445-8960
Step Two: - Attend your porting appointment. You must bring a copy of your valid vacate notice to this appointment. You will be rescheduled if you do not bring your vacate notice.
- A Housing Choice Voucher will be issued to the family and the required documentation will be mailed to the RHA.
Americans with Disabilities Act The HA will make all reasonable efforts to be flexible in assisting persons with disabilities in order to participate in the Housing Choice Voucher Program successfully. Examples of reasonable accommodation are: - Home visits if the person's disability prevents them from coming to the HA office.
- TDD or TDY devices provided through the California Relay for the Deaf.
- Accessible format of HA correspondence (such as large print).
